LOCAL JSONPATH QUERY TESTER
Find values in a JSON document.
Evaluate basic JSONPath selectors against pasted JSON and inspect matched paths and values. A documented subset runs locally in your browser.
Try $.store.book[*].title. JSON and query processing stay in this browser.
How this tester evaluates a query
The tester parses the JSON, starts at the root value $, and applies each supported child or descendant selector in order. For the example, $.store.book[*].title selects the title from each object in the book array and returns two strings. Results show each matched node’s path and value. Negative indexes count from the end of an array.
This is a deliberately limited subset of RFC 9535: root, simple dot names, quoted bracket names, integer indexes, child wildcards, and descendant names or wildcards. Quoted names follow the RFC escape rules: escape the active quote and backslash, and write control characters with escapes such as \n. It rejects filters, slices, unions, functions, and other syntax instead of silently interpreting them. JSON input is capped at 100,000 characters, the expression at 2,000 characters, nesting at 100 levels, and displayed matches at 500. Page content updated November 4, 2026.
Runs in your browser. No uploads. No account.
Good to know
Why does my query return no matches?
Check that the property names and array indexes match the JSON structure. JSONPath property names are case-sensitive, and a missing child produces an empty result list.
Can I use filters such as [?(@.price < 10)]?
No. This tester supports basic child and descendant selectors only. Filters, slices, unions, functions, and other unlisted syntax are rejected.
Does it implement all of RFC 9535?
No. The page describes its supported subset and does not claim full RFC conformance. Consult the RFC for the complete syntax and semantics.
Is my JSON uploaded or saved?
No. Parsing and query evaluation run locally in this browser tab; the tool does not fetch external data, upload the document, or save it.
Is it free?
Yes, during beta. Optional usage-credit plans are coming soon. Payments are not available and no credits are required.
Source
The supported query concepts, quoted-name escape rules, and limits are documented against the JSONPath standard. Source checked November 4, 2026.
How it works
1. Paste a JSON document. 2. Enter a supported JSONPath expression such as $.store.book[*].title. 3. Run it to inspect matched paths and values; processing stays in your browser.
Good to know
Which JSONPath syntax does this support?
It supports the root, simple property names, quoted property names, integer indexes, child wildcards, and descendant names or wildcards. Filters and slices are not supported.
Does this implement all of RFC 9535?
No. It implements the smaller documented selector subset and rejects syntax outside that scope.
Is my JSON uploaded?
No. Parsing and selection run locally in your browser, with no external data request or input upload.
Is it free?
Yes, during beta. Optional usage-credit plans are coming soon. Payments are not available and no credits are required.
Methodology and limitations
Parse the input as JSON, parse the supported JSONPath subset, then apply each child or descendant selector to the current node list in sequence. Return each matched value with its node path. Enforce 100,000-character JSON, 2,000-character expression, 100-level nesting, and 500-result limits. No network request is made.
